My name is Stuart Holmes, I am a professional photographer based in Keswick in the English Lake District. My preferred specialty is landscape and adventure photography. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you are looking for a fit and able photographer to document your expedition! I'm thinking Antarctica, Greenland, Himalayas, most places mountainous in fact. I'd do temperate and tropical too, involving surf or coral reefs and wildlife preferably.
I was brought up and have lived most of my life around Keswick in the English Lake District. The area provides a beautiful landscape amongst which to have adventures on the hills, in the air above them or on and in the lakes that fill the valleys. For a landscape photographer it's a dream place to live, where the light is forever changing and the seasons offer dramatically different colours. Have a look at my Lake District galleries to get an idea.
I enjoy traveling and have been lucky enough to have visited many different countries for both work and my own adventures with friends. Mountains are typically the common thread in my trips, have a look at the galleries in the Adventure section in the top menu. There are lots of galleries from around the world in Work and Play.
I am a co-director of fotoVUE, a publishing company producing photo-location guidebooks. We have a growing number of titles to different areas in the UK and abroad by some of the country's best landscape photographers. Our books guide you to some of the most interesting and inspiring places to take photographs in an area, are packed full of stunning photographs, offer technical advice on how to take the best photographs and tell you when are the likely best times to visit. Have a look at the Photographing the Lake District pages for more information on my location guidebook to the Lakes.
I also work as a guide for Wild Photography Holidays and have lead photo workshops in Iceland, Norway and Greenland. In Spring 2020 I will lead a photo trek to Everest Base Camp - come and join me for an astounding photographic experience. Have a look at the galleries for these locations here.
