KAMCHATKA - FIRE AND ICE

In August 2009 I visited Kamchatka leading a trekking group for KE Adventure Travel. Using a 6-wheel drive truck to get around we climbed volcanoes and explored some beautiful remote parts of the Peninsula. As the Russian equivalent of Alaska the majority of the area is untravelled, spectacular and full of bears. Fortunately, unlike the majority of the rest of the former USSR, the lack of anything commercial to exploit means the countryside remains relatively unspoiled by man.
